Give capsules whole, by mouth, for at least 30 days. Do not open or crush capsules.

If your cat is particularly sensitive to new supplements, we recommend starting by giving just 1 capsule and waiting 3-4 days before giving the next one. Then, you can gradually move towards more frequent dosing.

If your cat is currently stable, give 1 capsule daily for the first 3 days, then progress to more frequent dosing according to this dosing chart.

Prescreened feline fecal material sourced from select healthy cat donors who live in homes and are rigorously tested for pathogens, parasites, and healthy microbiome composition.

Inactive ingredients: Glycerol, and vegetarian capsule.

This is a natural product. Some variation in color is normal.

Sad Kitty Mom

My kitty crossed the rainbow bridge before I could tell how effective the biome would be. I rated KittyBiome 5 stars because it was only fair to do so considering the circumstances.

Worked great

I wasn’t sure this would work but it truly did! Our rescue cat had very loose stools for months, ever since we got her. We were feeding her the same brand of food she’d been eating at the rescue and she checked out fine at the vet. Within a week of starting Gut Restore - no more stinky messy stools! Amazing.

My vet was blown away

My 15-year-old cat started puking nearly every day. We took him to the vet multiple times and were told he either has IBD or lymphoma (they can't tell for sure without doing a biopsy, but the treatment is the same) and also early kidney disease. They prescribed a steroid pill and a prescription food. The next time we took him in for testing, he still had all of the above, but now he also showed signs of diabetes as well. The vet recommended we put him on Chlorambucil, which is a low-dose chemo pill, and taper off of giving him the steroid. We also switched his food to Blue Buffalo weight control formula to try to manage his weight and his diabetes. Despite all these interventions, the poor boy was still puking daily, and looked lethargic. After watching Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut, I looked into fecal transfers for cats. I stumbled on Kitty Biome and bought the 60-day supply.

When I started giving the poo pills to my cat he immediately stopped puking for two weeks! He did go back to puking more often, but it's every 5 days or so, instead of daily. He became less lethargic, and his poops don't smell as bad as they used to. After 30 days on the poo pills we took him back to the vet for a checkup and his labs were TOTALLY CLEAR! No diabetes, no cloudy urine, no signs of IBD/lymphoma. The vet was blown away and asked me what we were doing differently. I told her about Kitty Biome! Obviously, we made a lot of changes to his usual routine that could have contributed to his recovery, but for me, the biggest sign that it was the Kitty Biome that did the trick is the fact the he stopped puking so much immediately after starting the supplement course. We just finished the full 60 days last week and he still seems happy and healthy. I look forward to seeing what his labs say in a few months. I would highly recommend Kitty Biome to anyone with a sick cat!

Gut Restore restored quality of life

Our kitty had recurrent UTIs due to a medical condition and procedure - and while the procedure resolved the medical condition, it often set cats up for recurrent UTIs....and so it was for our kitty. He would no sooner recover from a UTI with antibiotics, then he would be diagnosed with another one. A trusted friend suggested that I try Gut Restore with our kitty to see if that helped with the constant UTIs. I was skeptical but I trusted her. And to our amazement - once he started on Gut Restore, the UTIs stopped. He had one UTI in two years of treatment with Gut Restore. We were amazed, and grateful. Our kitty was able to enjoy his life!

A true miracle!

My cat, Niobe, has a really bad case of chronic IBD. Before trying Gut Restore, she had been on antibiotics for several consecutive months. Whenever we tried to stop them, she got much worse, and we even thought she might need them for life. Her case is one of the toughest at our vet hospital, and we had tried everything.

Gut Restore was a miracle for us! It took 5 months of slowly lowering her antibiotic dosage, but it worked! Her poop went back to normal, and she did great for 6 months. A few weeks ago, we had to give her another round of booster pills for a month. She might need a boost every 6 months or so, but it's a small price to pay to see her so healthy and happy! I wish we had heard of it sooner and saved her from so much misery. We hope some day it will be available in Spain so the logistics won't be so expensive and complicated.

Huge thanks to everyone at Animal Biome for making this possible. I don't know what we would have done without you!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a fecal microbiota transplant (FMT)?

A fecal microbiota transplant (FMT), also called fecal transplant, is the transfer of stool from a healthy donor to the GI tract of a sick recipient. The stool from the donor contains a diverse, well-functioning community of bacteria that take up residence in the recipient’s gut. FMT is the best known approach for restoring a balanced gut microbiome and has proven to be an effective treatment in both humans and companion animals.

FMT has been used for hundreds of years in veterinary medicine and for over a thousand years in human medicine. Though modern regulatory entities like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are still determining how to classify it, FMT continues to demonstrate beneficial results for a growing list of human health conditions. For example, FMT is routinely used to treat Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) infections. And it provides a promising solution for the low gut bacterial diversity associated with Crohn’s disease (a form of IBD).

What are Gut Restore/FMT capsules (poop pills)?

An FMT can be delivered via colonoscopy or enema, but for cats and dogs, those procedures generally require sedation. Our Gut Restore Supplement is an oral capsule that gives your cat the benefits of FMT without the need for surgery or sedation. Containing a proprietary mixture of carefully screened, cryoprotected, freeze-dried donor stool, the Gut Restore capsules (aka “poop pills”) offer a noninvasive, affordable, at-home alternative for pets suffering from digestive, skin, or immune system issues.

How can Gut Restore Supplements improve my cat’s health?

By seeding your cat’s microbiome with all the right bacteria in the right proportions, the capsules can help reestablish balance and resolve symptoms. When cats with digestive symptoms, skin issues, or immune system problems turn out to be missing certain important gut bacteria, we need to add those missing members to the microbiome and help the new populations grow and thrive.

The Gut Restore Supplement provides a whole community of healthy cat-specific microbes. The capsule’s enteric coating prevents it from dissolving until it reaches the intestines, where the contents “seed” your cat’s gut with a diverse array of healthy bacteria, restoring any missing groups.

Where do you get the material for Gut Restore Supplements?

Our Gut Restore Supplement for cats is derived from stool donated by healthy pet cats that live in homes and have been carefully screened for health, age, fecal consistency, behavior, and microbiome composition (based on DNA sequencing).

Donor stool samples are submitted for parasite and pathogen screening to the IDEXX Reference Laboratories, the leading veterinary diagnostics company, which has stringent quality control guidelines and well-validated standard operating procedures.

All cat donor material is regularly screened for parasites and pathogens:

  • Cats are screened for the following pathogens via PCR: Clostridium perfringens Enterotoxin Gene, Feline coronavirus, Tritrichomonas foetus, Campylobacter coli, Campylobacter jejuni, Feline panleukopenia virus, Clostridium perfringens Alpha Toxin, Cryptosporidium, Salmonella spp, Toxoplasma gondii, Giardia
  • Cats are screened for the following parasites via ELISA: Giardia, Hookworms, Whipworms, Roundworms
  • Cats are screened for ova and parasites using fecal flotation.

Is the supplement right for my cat?

Cats of all ages, breeds, health conditions, and with a wide range of symptoms have benefited from the Gut Restore Supplement. The vast majority of cats see improvement in their digestive issues, food allergies and intolerances, and/or skin issues within one to two months, but sometimes longer.

While this supplement is natural and intended to gently repopulate the microbiome, it does contain high numbers of healthy bacteria that can be overwhelming to medically unstable cats. If your cat is severely underweight or requires frequent hospitalization, we recommend checking with your veterinarian to see if the Gut Restore Supplement is right for your cat.
