About Saccharomyces boulardii

S. boulardii is a special probiotic that’s a strain of yeast, not bacteria. Studies have shown that S. boulardii is safe and effective for dogs and that it can prevent and reduce diarrhea from multiple causes. It has anti-inflammatory properties. As a probiotic, it is especially helpful for regrowing gut microbe populations that have become imbalanced and for promoting healthy skin.

And unlike bacterial probiotics, S. boulardii isn’t affected by antibiotics, so it can also be used during antibiotic treatment to help with the digestive side effects that antibiotics often cause. Studies have shown that when S. boulardii is given along with an antibiotic, dogs are much less likely to develop diarrhea during or after the course of medication.

S. boulardii is also resilient to stomach acid, so when it reaches the intestines, it’s still intact and alive, while many bacterial probiotics die in the stomach and never make it to the gut. Once in the gut, S. boulardii provides food for beneficial microbes, supporting a healthy, diverse microbiome.

About Fructooligosaccharides (FOS)

Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are tiny, soluble fibers. The raw material from which the FOS in our S. boulardii + FOS is produced is Non-GMO beet sugar*. These particular fibers are prebiotic, meaning that they are the preferred food of beneficial microbes like the ones in your pet’s gut. Making sure all the beneficial members of the gut microbiome get enough of the right food is crucial not just for healthy digestion but also for a strong immune system, healthy skin, and even a happy mood. Studies in dogs have shown that supplementation with FOS improves both gut health and immune functions.

The 60g jar contains a 1.2g scoop. See chart for suggested amounts. Give 0.5 scoop per day for dogs weighing up to 20 lbs, 1 scoop for dogs weighing 21–35 lbs, 1.5 scoops per day for dogs weighing 36-50 lbs, 2 scoops per day for dogs weighing 51–70 lbs, and 2.5 scoops for dogs weighing over 71 lbs.

The 30g jar contains a 0.6g scoop. Give 1 scoop per day for dogs weighing 11-20 lbs, and 2 scoops per day for dogs weighing 21-35 lbs.

Caution: S. boulardii can cause constipation in some dogs. Discontinue use if your dog's stool becomes hard and dry.

Great Product

This product was referred by my holistic veterinarian. My dog gets diarrhea often and we were working on her digestion. She no longer has diarrhea and her eating has improved. Highly recommend. I wish it was not so expensive but I will continue to use.

Excellent Product

We have been using this on my Goldendoodle to correct her gut health. She kept having gastritis and resulting diarrhea. We had done the conventional treatment of Flagyl but it wasn’t fixing the underlying issues. After an analysis of her stool, it was recommended by the Animal Biome folks and her veterinarian nutritionist we use this. She has not had gastritis in 18 months. Her poops are much improved and she feels better. It’s pricy but worth it to have my dog healthy.

Amazing results

A miracle product!

Fantastic Results

My little Catahoula-Corgi mix was a sick, itchy mess with horrible soft stools that had globs of mucus. After getting her tested for food allergies and stopping those she cannot eat, she got much better. But her diarrhea just would not stop. These wonderful AnimalBiome folks tested her stool and found out she can't digest carbs, so she gets NO carbs now. That helped a lot more but still the diarrhea wouldn't stop. Is this supplement right for my dog?

This supplement is not recommended for dogs who experience constipation.

Seek veterinary help if your dog's diarrhea is accompanied by lethargy, loss of appetite, bloating, apparent abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, large amounts of blood or the ingestion of poison or if the diarrhea lasts more than three weeks even if it varies in intensity from day to day.
