AMAZING!

Absolutely amazing! 4 Vets didn’t know what was wrong with our puppy who had chronic diarrhea for 3 months! Her Biomed sample came back with no good bacteria at all & a bad Strep bacteria in her gut. Started her on the FOS & the Gut Restore. For the first time in months she doesn’t have diarrhea multiple x’s a day! It’s a true Godsend!

Excellent product

I've done these 2 years in a row and will continue to do so. I've fed my golden, Tanner a raw food diet since we brought him home and was very surprised to find that he was deficient in so many things which contributed to his occasional runny poo and ear infections. Since making the changes that I needed, his stool is consistently normal and ear infections are a thing of "hopefully" the past. Can't recommend this product enough. The price is still less than what the vets are charging per visit these days......

Helpful and Informative

My sweet little Sheltie has been having skin issues, and we've exhausted all the tests and treatment options at the vet. I tried this as a last resort, and found it very actionable. Their customer service folks are also very responsive and helpful. Finally, we're making slow progress!

Results

Very happy with the animal biome test and the people incredible you can always get them on the phone. You can always ask questions. I was disappointed that my results were not perfect since I do everything pretty much correctly with my dog so I guess I’m going to have to think about the Pills to regulate what’s missing in the Microbiome … waiting for a sale

Truly a lifesaver!

My 12 yr old labradoodle, Roxy was having GI issues for about 2yrs that no doctor could effectively figure out. Unfortunately, her condition culminated in an ER visit early last year, and she almost didn't make it. The doctors diagnosed Roxy with pancreatitis and put her on a low fat diet (even though we weren't feeding her a high fat diet to begin with). From then on, Roxy steadily began losing weight and her GI issues (vomiting, diarrhea) continued. I saw 7 different doctors in the course of 1yr and besides some herbal supplements (none of which worked), the only other treatment they had was giving her metronidazole! Roxy soon went from 35lbs to 24lbs - she was all skin and bones and losing muscle fast. I fortunately found Animal Biome in my desperate research to save Roxy and did her gut health test. Her E-coli was off the charts and her gut was depleted of all good bacteria (thanks Metronidazole!). I began giving Roxy 2 GRS pills and daily dose of S-Boulardii and Gut Cleanse to help her rebalance her microbiomes. This stuff REALLY WORKS! After 3 months of taking the supplements, Roxy has now put back all the weight she lost, and she's eating well and her stools are normal. She hasn't had a GI episode in a couple of months now! (which is miraculous for her). In the midst of all this stress, I always felt supported by Animal Biome's vet techs. Beth Marty in particular always was so positive and helpful in advising how to best help Roxy. I thank Animal Biome and their staff from the bottom of my heart!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my sample includes dirt or other contaminants?

It is okay if you are not able to collect a sample that is completely free of dirt or other environmental particles, but cleaner samples can be processed more quickly. Just try your best!

What harmful bacteria (pathogens) does the Gut Health Test detect?

The DoggyBiome Gut Health Test report will measure the relative abundance of each of these types of harmful bacteria found in your dog’s sample:

  • Clostridium perfringens
  • Escherichia coli
  • Campylobacter upsaliensis
  • Clostridioides difficile
  • Salmonella enterica
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Listeria monocytogenes
  • Staphylococcus intermedius
  • Campylobacter jejuni
  • Clostridium piliforme

What beneficial bacteria does the Gut Health Test screen for and what makes them ‘beneficial’?

The DoggyBiome Gut Health Test can detect:

  • Clostridium hiranonis (Peptacetobacter hiranonis)
  • Turicibacter sanguinis
  • Faecalibacterium spp.
  • Blautia spp.
  • Fusobacterium spp.
  • Subdoligranulum spp.
  • Megasphaera spp.
  • Bifidobacterium spp.
  • Bacteroides spp.

Scientific research has identified these types of bacteria as beneficial for both gut health and host health in dogs. All gut bacteria fulfill different roles; beneficial ones can help with reducing inflammation, producing important molecules, improving immune system function, aiding in digestion and metabolism, and other important aspects of host health.

Will this test show me if my pet has a parasitic infection?

The Gut Health Test looks specifically at the bacterial microbiome, which does not include parasites like Giardia, hookworms, or roundworms.

Will this test tell me what foods my dog is allergic to?

The Gut Health Test looks at the bacteria present in the microbiome, which will not provide information on food allergies or intolerances.

What is fecal microbiome testing and what are the benefits?

Fecal microbiome testing is the process of sequencing bacterial DNA material from a small fecal sample. We can detect and identify the bacteria from your dog’s stool sample and then provide you with a comprehensive report.

Testing a dog’s microbiome provides insights into their health. Then imbalances in specific gut bacteria can be addressed to help alleviate such symptoms as diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and itchy skin that may be associated with some chronic health conditions.

Will my sample be safe in the mail?

Yes, your sample is safe. The sample tubes contain a special liquid that keeps the bacteria perfectly preserved for analysis, across a very wide range of temperatures. Once inside the tube, the sample is safe for several months.

How long does it take to get my dog’s test results?

Reports are typically sent within two weeks from when the samples arrive at our laboratory.
