We are in need of cat parents that have pets who currently suffer from digestive issues. If your cat has been diagnosed with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease), is suspected to have IBD, or has any chronic GI-related symptoms, we need you!

Examples of chronic GI-related symptoms:
Diarrhea or soft stools
Vomiting
Constipation
Appetite fluctuations, weight loss
Food intolerances or allergies

What is required to participate?

42 days of daily supplementation with a tasty chew that can be broken down into smaller pieces if needed. If your kitty has a refined palate and is very picky about treats or supplements, this study may not be ideal for them.

In addition to the daily supplement, you will be required to complete surveys and collect fecal samples from your cat on Day 0, 21 and 42. No diet changes need to be made, just add the new treat-like chew!

What is EpiCor?

EpiCor is a postbiotic formulation based on brewer’s yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Putting the yeast through a special fermentation process produces a unique collection of postbiotics: specific beneficial proteins, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fiber, and other nutrients. Multiple studies have shown that EpiCor improves constipation and GI discomfort in humans, and promotes positive microbiome composition changes in people with various digestive issues. Additional studies found that EpiCor promotes healthy immune responses in dogs, shifting the gut microbiome positively, elevating immune capacity, and decreasing inflammation.

IBD and other chronic GI issues are associated with dysbiosis of the microbiome, Inflammation, and immune dysfunction. We think that EpiCor may help support cats with these issues. That’s where you and your cat come in!

How to Become a Participant

Complete the survey linked below.
If your cat qualifies, we will reach out to you by email.
A pre-screening gut health test will be shipped to your door.
Collect and ship back to us a fecal sample from your cat.
If your cat passes the screening, you’re in! If not, you will still get the results of your cat’s gut microbiome test - a $99 value.

Start by completing our cat questionnaire form. It will take less than 10 minutes. We know your time is purr-ecious! You will receive an email from devika.gopan@animalbiome.com if you pass our initial screening. You will be helping inform the future of science to improve the lives of cats and dogs.

The study will involve giving your cat daily supplements in the form of a chewy treat for 42 days. You will complete surveys and take fecal samples from your cat on Day 0, Day 21, and Day 42.
